SEND and Inclusion
At Oakdale Primary School we strive to meet the needs of all pupils, adapting the curriculum to support and challenge children as appropriate, and have high aspirations for all.
Some children need extra support because they find aspects of learning more difficult than most other children or young people of the same age, and will access Special Educational Needs support (SEND). We aim to quickly identify pupils who are making limited progress and use this information to decide which support is the most appropriate to meet their needs.
Class teachers, with support from the SENCO, make sure that parents are aware of the SEND process and work together with parents and children to review progress regularly throughout the year. It is important to us that all our children find their own successes and can recognise and celebrate these steps on their journey.
Our ‘SEND Policy and Information Report’ explains how we support children with SEND at Oakdale, from how we identify and assess, our approach to curriculum adaptation and support, to how we review progress. This document is updated annually following discussion with parents, children, and our SEND Governor.
Also below is our ‘SEND on a page’ which gives a quick overview of key aspects of SEND support at Oakdale Primary School.
All local authorities must provide a local offer of SEND services, which can help with accessing support or advice. Please click the button below to find out more.
