Curriculum
The teaching of basic skills is very important to us. We teach daily phonics, literacy and maths lessons across key stage one and two. We use the 'Little Wandle' scheme to teach phonics. This approach is also used for teaching early reading and our texts are coded according to the phonics featured. Pupils are assessed on their phonic knowledge and this information is used to set the level of texts the children read at home. In Key Stage Two or when Phase 6 phonics have been completed this reverts back to colour banding. More information on our approach to teaching phonics can be found here: Phonics - Oakdale Primary School
We use the Maths Mastery approach to teaching maths using Maths Hub and White Rose planning and resources.
We offer a broad curriculum through six topics per year for each year group. We use the Chris Quigley Essentials Curriculum which is a progressive curriculum focused on achieving milestones by the end of Year 2,4 and 6.
